Holistic Development in Nature

At Mindful Wild Steps, I believe children thrive when they’re given the freedom to connect with nature and grow in a nurturing, community-centred environment. My programs foster connections with the natural world while supporting holistic development, community connections, and practical skills. My goal is to inspire children to become stewards of the Earth, while nurturing a sense of community, belonging and self-awareness.

These core principles guide everything I do:

1. Nature Connection

I believe a strong connection with nature is essential for children’s well-being and growth. I encourage this bond through hands-on experiences in the natural world, allowing children to explore, discover, and engage with their surroundings. From learning about ecosystems to understanding seasonal changes, my sessions help children develop a deep appreciation for the beauty and balance of nature.

2. Whole-Child Approach

I take a holistic approach to nurturing every aspect of a child’s growth—physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. Each child is unique, and I provide personalised support to help them thrive in their own way. Through a balanced mix of physical activity, emotional expression, and intellectual challenges, I ensure that every child feels seen, valued, and supported.

3. Community Connection

I believe that a strong sense of community is important for a child's growth and well-being. My sessions bring families together in a supportive environment, where meaningful relationships are built through trust, collaboration, and shared experiences. By fostering connection and belonging, we create a space where everyone feels valued and inspired to learn and thrive together.

4. Environmental Stewardship

I believe it’s vital to instil a sense of responsibility in children when it comes to caring for the environment. Through my activities, children learn the importance of living sustainably and protecting the natural world. Whether they’re foraging, gardening, or learning about life cycles, I encourage children to become caretakers of the Earth, with the hope that they’ll carry these values into the future.

5. Practical Skills & Free Play

At Mindful Wild Steps, I balance structured, hands-on activities with the freedom of play. Children are encouraged to develop practical skills—whether it’s building shelters, using tools, or working on creative projects—while also having the space to explore and play freely. Free play fosters creativity, problem-solving, and resilience, allowing children to take healthy risks in a safe, supportive environment.

Wild Steps

Wild Steps sessions are designed for children aged 4 to 13 years, blending themed activities with plenty of free play in nature.

What to Expect:

Each session begins with an opening circle, where we practice a breathing or meditation exercise, express gratitude, and introduce the day's activities. Throughout the day, children can engage in three mindfulness "quests", such as stretching like an animal or listening to the sounds of nature, promoting mindfulness and self-awareness. Through the term we offer activities, like art, craft or experiments, as well as lost of time for exploration and free-play.

We end with a closing circle, reflecting on the day’s adventures, completing a page in our nature journals, and sometimes reading a story together.

Mindful Minis

Mindful Minis sessions are designed for children aged 0-3 years, offering a nurturing space where little ones can explore and connect with nature. Each 1.5-hour session includes hands-on sensory play, messy play, nature-based activities, and storytime, all aimed at supporting your child’s early development.

These sessions help children build confidence, develop social skills, and spark curiosity through creative play. With activities like safe tapioca “water beads” and nature crafts, your child will have the freedom to explore in a supportive, calm environment.

Parents benefit too, with the opportunity to slow down, bond with their children, and connect with other parents in a welcoming community. Mindful Minis is more than just play—it's about creating meaningful connections for both children and parents in a nature-led setting.

At Mindful Wild Steps, I am dedicated to nurturing well-rounded, environmentally conscious individuals who respect and value their world.

I believe in growing together with our wildlings, fostering a community of curious, caring, and connected individuals.
