Wildcrafting Women

A women’s skillshare.

A space to dress-up, connect, have cuppa and learn skills we can take back home and actually use.

Things like patching clothes, preserving food, blending herbs, or weaving something with your hands.

This space is open to all women who feel drawn to slow connection, hands-on learning and a few hours that are just for them.

These sessions hold that old village feel.

A chance to make things together, sit together, drink cacao and chat.

What’s included:

  • Three 2 hour sessions across three Sunday afternoons

  • One guest facilitator who teaches a hands-on skill across the 3 week block

  • Cacao or herbal tea each week

  • Time to connect, create, and enjoy community

  • A warm, women-only, kid-free space

The skills change with the seasons. You might learn how to preserve food, mend clothes, weave natural fibres or create your own herbal blends. Every block is different, shaped by the facilitator and the group.

You don’t need to prepare or be good at anything. Just come along as you are.

Dress-ups welcome

Earthy, vintage, fae, linen, aprons, scarves, florals. Whatever helps you feel like you’ve stepped into something special.

Dress in what makes you feel your most authentic self.

Fairy crowns, old-style layers, comfy skirts or anything you love.

Comfort is essential.

What kind of skills will we explore?

Each block focuses on one practical skill, taught by a guest facilitator across the three weeks. These are slow, useful things you can take home and keep using.

Some of the skills we may explore include:

  • Food preserving and fermenting

  • Herbal remedies, infusions, and salves

  • Natural dyeing and visible mending

  • Foraging and plant ID

  • Basket weaving and handcrafts

  • Soap making, candles, or natural cleaning blends

  • Simple stitching, crochet, or small upcycled projects

No experience needed. Just curiosity, good company, and space to learn together.

This block's skill

This block’s skill will focus on fermented drinks and herbal syrups, led by guest facilitator Jess Fodor. Jess is an artist and everyday herbalist with a passion for connecting people to simple, nourishing practices that support health and wellbeing. You can find her over at @swamphaar on Instagram.

Throughout the 3-week series, Jess and Mindful Wild Steps founder and facilitator Jaya will guide you through making herbal syrups and simple ferments - practical skills that can be used at home. These sessions are all about bringing women together to reconnect with village-style knowledge and build confidence in everyday home-based skills. It's hands-on, casual and designed to be as welcoming and comfortable as possible.

Important Notice Before Booking

Wildcrafting Women is not a formal workshop, training or certified course. There are no qualifications given and no experience needed. Guest facilitators are not required to be trained or qualified. They’re simply women with a skill to share. This is a space to come together, dress up if you like, share a cuppa and learn everyday skills from each other. It’s about connection, community and getting back to the old ways of passing on knowledge through hands-on learning and conversation.

Due to the overwhelming support and interest I’ve decided to create a waitlist for Wildcrafting Women. Numbers will be capped to keep things comfortable, especially for those who find big groups a bit much. If you’re interested, email me here and I’ll reach out to you first when bookings open.

FAQ

  • Nope. This space is for learning. You don’t need to have tried anything before

  • Not quite. While Wildcrafting Women has the warmth and community feel of a women’s circle, it’s focused on learning hands-on skills. Think mending, weaving, preserving, that kind of thing.

  • These sessions are kid-free so you can fully unwind and connect.

  • Dress-ups are completely optional. We love seeing earthy, vintage, fairy-core, or just a good old apron. Come in pyjamas if you like, whatever helps you step into the rhythm of the afternoon.

  • Any woman craving connection, learning, and something real. All ages and backgrounds welcome.

  • Most sessions will be held in Mangalore, Tasmania. If we ever run one elsewhere, it will be on the website before you book.

  • These aren’t formal workshops. There’s no certificate, just real-life skills and community.

  • Our sessions are held in bushland, which means uneven ground, tree roots, and no paved paths. We always have chairs available and do our best to accommodate everyone, but the setting may not be suitable for all mobility aids. Feel free to message us if you’d like to know more before booking.

  • We’re after practical, useful skills that women can take home and use in daily life. Things like mending, preserving, weaving, simple herbalism, fermenting, patchwork, sourdough, natural dyeing, basket making, and more.

You don’t need formal qualifications, just a skill, a passion, and the ability to guide others.

  • No, guest facilitators aren’t required to be trained or qualified. They might be, but more often they’re simply women with knowledge or experience to share, just like in the old days when skills were passed on around the fire or kitchen table.

This is a skillshare, not a formal course, so what’s shared is based on personal experience and what’s worked for them. It’s about community, connection, and learning from each other.
