Bird Feeders
Bird feeders are a simple and rewarding activity that helps children connect with local wildlife while creating something useful for the birds that share their environment.
Using recycled toilet rolls, bird seed, and a bird-safe spread, children can create feeders that are quick to make and easy to hang outdoors. Once in place, they provide a wonderful opportunity to observe birds visiting throughout the day.
This activity combines creativity, nature connection, and caring for wildlife in a way that children can see and enjoy long after the craft is finished.
You'll Need
• Toilet rolls
• Natural almond butter or another bird-safe spread
• Bird seed
• String
• Spoon or butter knife

How To
Thread a piece of string through the toilet roll and tie it securely, leaving enough length for hanging later.
Spread a thin layer of natural almond butter over the outside of the toilet roll.
Pour bird seed onto a tray or plate.
Roll the toilet roll through the bird seed until it is well coated.
Hang the feeder from a tree branch or another suitable outdoor location.
