Fidget Foxes

At Mindful Wild Steps, we spend a lot of time encouraging people to connect with the world around them through their senses.

Sensory experiences are part of everyday life. They can influence how we focus, unwind, create, think, process information, navigate challenges, and connect with ourselves and our environment.

Fidget Foxes were created as a way to bring some of those sensory experiences into everyday life.

Combining weight, movement, texture, sound and tactile features, each fox offers a unique sensory experience in a handmade companion designed to be explored, held and enjoyed.

Meet the Foxes

The Fidget Foxes collection currently includes three foxes, each offering a different sensory experience through their size, weight and features.

Flame Fox (Maxi)

Flame is the largest fox in the collection and the original fox that inspired everything.

He features weighted feet and a weighted tummy for a calming sense of pressure, crinkly ears that provide gentle auditory feedback, tactile clickers for repetitive fidgeting, and a long fluffy tail that adds extra texture and movement. As the fox with the widest range of sensory features, Flame offers the richest sensory experience in the collection.

Ember Fox (Mini)

Ember sits comfortably in the middle of the collection.

She features weighted elements for calming input, tactile clickers for fidgeting, textured materials to explore through touch, and a flexible design that encourages movement and interaction. Combining many of Flame’s favourite features in a more portable size, Ember provides a balanced sensory experience that is easy to take with you.

Spark Fox (Pocket)

Spark may be the smallest fox in the collection, though he's packed full of sensory features.

He features weighted elements for grounding input, a tactile clicker for discreet fidgeting, textured fabrics for sensory exploration, and a compact design that allows for movement and interaction in the palm of your hand. Small enough to fit into a pocket, bag or desk drawer, Spark keeps sensory support close by wherever you go.

My Story

I've always been a nervous passenger. If I'm in the car, there's a good chance I'm fidgeting with something, or finding some way to keep my hands busy.

On one particular drive, I found myself thinking about all the sensory things I enjoy. Different textures, weight, movement, clickers, crinkles, things that make satisfying sounds, things that can be rolled between your fingers. By the time we got home, I had the beginnings of an idea.

That idea became Jack.

At the time, I wasn't creating a product or a collection. I just wanted to see if I could bring this thing in my head to life. There was a lot of trial and error involved. Some ideas worked beautifully, some didn't, and the design changed many times along the way.

Once Jack was finished, I naturally wanted to see if I could make a pocket-sized version. That became Spark. Then I found myself wanting something in between, which eventually became Ember.

Somewhere along the way, this little idea I had in the passenger seat turned into a genuine passion project. One fox became three. One idea became hundreds of little design decisions. Every version taught me something new, and even now they're continuing to evolve as I source materials, test ideas and refine the collection.

A Little Note

Every Fidget Fox is handmade by me, from start to finish.

At the moment, I'm continuing to refine the collection and source more natural, sustainable and thoughtfully sourced materials wherever possible. Finding the right materials is a process, and I'd rather take my time than rush it.

For that reason, I'm not currently taking commissions, custom orders or pre-orders.

As foxes become available, they'll be listed here on the website. Until then, thank you for your patience while I continue bringing this little collection to life.
